The Majors
Every race matters - but the Majors mean more. Think Augusta, Wimbledon, The Pipeline Masters - every sport has those events that are extra special.
The longest running prone paddleboard race in the world, 32 miles from Catalina island to Manhattan Beach pier. The trophy dawns the names of ocean sport legends from around the world. No drafting, no age groups - stock and unlimited - first to the pier.
Started in 1997, the 32 mile Kaiwi channel has been proclaimed the "World Championships" of paddleboarding. The channel takes more technical skill and ocean knowledge than any other race, with its fast changing swell and current. Every year the race welcomes an international field dominated by the best of the best big wave surfers to Australian lifeguard racers to watermen and women worldwide.
The third and newest Major race to the season, the Chattajack 31 differs from the channel crossings of Catalina and Molokai. 31 Miles down the Tennessee River gorge is a welcome sight compared to the fast changing conditions of open ocean channel crossings. If you haven't already, this a race to add to the bucket list and the perfect way to wrap up the season.
